Damien Gaboury
M. Gaboury was Professor of hydrothermal metallogeny and mineral exploration at University of Québec at Chicoutimi (UQAC) from 2004 to 2023. He took early retirement from academia (age 55) to apply his knowledge to industry. He has published some forty scientific articles and given over fifty lectures on metallogeny and mineral exploration. He is the author of over 60 technical reports on metallogenic models, structural control of mineralization, geological context, and exploration strategies and targets for projects in Canada (Quebec, TNW), Burkina Faso, Guinea, Sudan, Niger, Morocco, Gabon, Senegal, Tanzania, Angola and Peru, for deposits of the following types: orogenic, epithermal, VMS, intrusion-related and stratiform copper. In 2014, he developed the “Professional Master in Mineral Exploration” program, which has trained around 100 students. He was awarded the Mérite Ressources prize by the Ordre des Géologues du Québec in 2018.
As part of the Laurentia team, with his 30 years of experience, he will provide scientific and technical support on various projects, as well as in-house training for young geologists.
